Covid-19 & Our Gym Rules to Minimize Risk
Gym Hygiene COVID-19
So as many of us are aware by now (12/3/2020) the coronavirus dubbed COVID-19 has now been classed as a pandemic meaning that this has become a world wide problem, this particular strain is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered corona-virus. This new virus and disease was unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
So how might that effect you?
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually.Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.
What to do?
First off don’t panic! Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing.
Who is most at risk?
Special populations of people namely older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness..
Will my gym be closed?
Well unfortunately this all depends on what kind of gym you train in, if you train in a large corporate or chain/franchise gym then this may be the case as public buildings containing 100+ people at once or a high gathering pf people in a confined area have today been told not to open, if like us you train in a smaller private owned or less busy gym then no this shouldn’t affect your gym experience.
How we will minimize your risk of catching COVID-19
So we are currently putting a few steps in place to ensure all members are risk free in our facility, here’s what you need to know & what you need to do:
We will be adding sanitizing wipes to the gym in various locations, please use them to wipe down your equipment after use
Pump action sanitizer has been added to the bathroom make sure to wash hands for 20 seconds
The gym equipment will all be cleansed three times daily with disinfectant spray as the virus can last from several hours & beyond but it is your responsibility to take your own extra measures also when sweating or breathing on equipment, in fact we will encourage any added measures you’d like to implement
If you need to cough or sneeze please practice responsible hygiene & be respectful to other gym members & do so onto the inside of your elbow or tissue
Towels are permitted to wipe down benches, equipment etc after use provided you have not used them to wipe your face
Avoid touching your eyes, mouth & nose during your time in the gym
Try to leave a small area between you and the next person where possible
(1 metre+ recommended)Disposable Gloves may be added to the gym on request
